Seriously it was snowing again this morning. Albeit it was a light-wet-non-sticking snow, but it was snow nonetheless. I hadn’t yet realized it as the blinds were closed and being that it is April 1st, one would not expect snow. Thanks to the mother unit for calling and helping with this unpleasant realization. Obviously you were trying to get back at me for all the times I have called you recently at 9:30am and you have yet to get OUT OF BED. You have formed some nasty habits in your retirement. No, I take that back. You are just reverting back to your old ways of forcing me to get up and ready for school at 8am, sharp!, so you could give me my math lesson, IN YOUR PAJAMAS, and then go right back to bed.
Snow used to be enjoyable to me. If it was predicted the night before, I would sometimes wake-up in the middle of the night to check and see if there was in fact a blanket of white on the ski light. While driving around with the white flakes sailing over the windshield I would be smiling from ear to ear with excitement.
With the long winter we had in 2007 (a butt load of snow in April ‘08) and somewhat of a short summer leading right back into a long tortuous winter again and a FABULOUS rejuvenation in Hawaii, I have come to detest the snow and winter all together.
Why has this never bothered me before? I am familiar with the 11.5 months of rain a year that we typically get and have skidded by unscathed from the melancholy that goes along with it. Unfortunately, I must have missed a turn somewhere along the way this time and fell right into a pool of misery. I suppose I have grown out of my childish ways of snowman building, snowball fights, and snow angles and have slid right into my adult depressing winter blue jeans.
Maybe I just need to go get another spray tan to give me the hope that the sun will reappear some day in the future because chocolate just isn’t doing the trick.

it’s not just you. even solomon is sick of winter. you know that if a 5 year old doesn’t care anymore that means we’ve had TO MUCH SNOW this year. this summer better be pretty darn good!!!
