I’ve never been a runner. It’s a little hard to be when you have boobs the size of watermelons that knock you out when you try. Or when you have a fear you look like this when you run.
Last summer I read a post by Whoorl on how she was starting to run again using the Couch to 5k. I looked it over and thought, I CAN SO DO THIS. It even has a podcast to listen to to help you know when to run and walk. I talked Jonathan into running with me because I have this thing about not working out by myself. I don’t want someone there to chat it up with me, I just want to know that I am not the only one who would rather be eating chocolate than running 3 miles. Well, in Jonathan’s case I’m sure he would rather be eating a cheese burger. I believe we made it to the 5th week before the rains came and we gave up.
We started up again a few weeks ago. We try to stick to a 3 day a week program, but with Jonathan’s school schedule it hasn’t always worked out that way. Okay, we did talk ourselves out of it a few times. Alright, I can’t lie. There was a week there where we didn’t run at all. For that reason we have been stuck on week 2 for a while now.
Last night I was dragging my heels when Jonathan asked if I wanted to go running, but I was a good girl and went with him. We started with our 5 minute warm-up walk and then our first 90 second jog. Before the first 90 seconds was over I got this crazy thought in my head. What if we just kept running? I wonder how long I could go for? I asked Jonathan if he wanted to keep running, so we did. I RAN FOR 15 MINUTES STRAIGHT! I couldn’t believe it. I found a groove and just kept going. I could have gone longer, but SOMEONE needed to stop. I won’t say who it was, but his initials are JONATHAN.
