It’s My Duty
January 21, 2008 by Kaydee
I have Jury Duty this week. This is my first time. I don’t know why I have never been called before. Jonathan has even been called and he has only been a resident here since we have been married.
I know what your thinking. Your thinking how fun this will be. Well your wrong. Like I want to go sit for hours upon hours at the courthouse just to be turned away because my dad is a police officer. The defense doesn’t want relatives of police officers. For some reason they think that makes us partial. Okay, they may have a point. I do believe that if the police did their job, the investigators did their job, and the prosecutor did their job, then there’s probably a good reason why you are sitting there at the defense table. I know that people have been falsely accused, but with todays technology, I’d like to think that evidence is pretty solid.
Regardless of how I feel, my pops says “suck it up” and just get it over with. I have been practicing my list of police officers I know so that I can say whether I know them or not. I have also debated on having some shirts made that say, “Gun control is using both hands”, “I’m not afraid of going back to jail, and neither should you”, or even wear Jonathan’s shirt that says, “Bomb Tech, if you see me running you’d best try and keep up” in hopes of sealing the deal of me not being on a jury. Perhaps randomly shouting “death penalty” will help too. ![]()
