Operation Creative Auntie - Day 2
October 31, 2007 by Kaydee
There is no denying it. I can’t spell. I’d like to think that I have gotten better, but I still have my moments. When I was in the 2nd grade, I was sitting at my desk doing a writing project and I had a mind fart. I couldn’t remember how to spell a word. It was such a simple word too. I asked my friends at my desk and they wouldn’t help me, so I went to ask the teacher and she told me to go sit at my desk and think about it. That was probably the right thing to do, but I could hear the disgust in her voice. My mom had me try Hooked On Phonics. It didn’t work for me. Today I was reminded of my lack of spelling ability when my nephew was working on his book report and asked me how to spell a word. I told him, but then had to get the dictionary because I wasn’t sure. I’m so pathetic.
Today’s creative project was cookie decorating. When I was at the store last night I picked up some icing and some sugar cookies cut like pumpkins. We had a great time.
Camille and I had the same idea…

Very decorative.

The boys on the other hand…

They were all about mountains of icing and army men sprinkles. Talk about a sugar rush. I think that cookies were a big hit. We also sat around the dining room table talking about Halloween and colored pictures. I love being an aunt.

Hi Kaydee! Just so you know the kids LOVED spending time with their Aunt Kaydee. On the last day, right when we got home, the pictures were hung up in our window for Halloween decorations, cookies were eaten and stories were told about the Mt. Pilchuck war and the army men sprinkles. (The sprinkles on top were surrendering their lives while the sprinkles on the bottom were only getting shot at and needed to get up that mountain and into the fight!) Camille just rolled her eyes at them and showed daddy how pretty her cookies looked. But they were very disappointed when they found out they weren’t going to have Kaydee time the next day. Want to watch them again???
Well I’ll talk to you soon. You do have awesome pictures!! They are getting better and better each time I see them
We need to have another picture day, and you need to show me some stuff.
Hi Kaydee, I’ve really enjoyed reading your blogs and especially enjoy looking at the pictures you take. You really have a talent that we didn’t tap into much while you were being home schooled. I’m sure you would have looked at it differently when you were that age. I have especially enjoyed reading about your experience as an “Auntie”. I can’t describe adequately how happy I am to see how our family has developed and yet still maintained the closeness we have. It’s special.
Love Ya …
